Beach pics

The kids and I just got back from a lovely trip to the Outer Banks. Much thanks to Meghan, Benicio and Paolo for hosting us for three nights! Especially Meghan, who forsook her own room for us to sleep in, and who forsook sleep in order to listen to me ramble on and on about life when she wasn't feeling well. We hope to see you again soon!

The girls were feeling particularly adventurous on the beach. I was really impressed, considering they were relatively scared of the water last summer. The good news is that they weren't tooadventurous, so I could let them make "sand castles" near the shore while I monitored Fletcher's every move (ie, held him constantly) closer to the dunes because he was still terrified of the ocean's roar. Fair enough.

The girls also climbed to the top of the lighthouse with no complaints and with total energy. Amazing! Unfortunately Fletcher also wanted to be a big boy and climb by himself so I had to trick him by letting him climb one or two at the beginning of each stair case while holding my hands. It seemed to work.

We stopped by the state aquarium in Manteo on the way back home yesterday and we got to see sharks!! Also, Vaughn and Milla touched a star fish and a sea urchin and made shark puppets out of lunch bags. Fletcher took three naps on the way home and the girls watched two movies so aside from a poop on the side of the road (Vaughn) and a pee in her undies at the Taco Bell (Milla), it was a success!! I dare you to try it yourself ... with my kids next weekend. Any takers?

It looks like it was a fun trip! I love Vaughn's dress (the one at the lighthouse?). You've got some cute kids. :)
